New Group Delay Compensator (Patented) for Doherty Amplifiers
This patented SMT component addresses the challenge of group delay differences in conventional Doherty power amplifiers (“PA”s) that utilize a hybrid coupler for signal splitting and a transmission line for combining. The main amplifier path and the peaking amplifier path experience varied group delays, leading to imperfect power combining at the band edges and restricting the overall bandwidth of the Doherty PA. By cascading this delay compensator after the hybrid coupler, designers can efficiently minimize the group delay mismatch, facilitating optimal performance across wide bandwidths. While alternative solutions like power dividers and quarter-wavelength transmission lines are available, they often present design difficulties and occupy substantial board space. This innovative delay compensator allows for flexible splitting ratios using commonly available hybrids, making it an essential addition for improving Doherty amplifier performance. Revolutionary Very Low Loss Directional Coupler Family (Patented)
This new coupler family addresses the long-standing challenges of conventional directional couplers, which have seen little significant change over decades. Designed with modern PA needs in mind, these directional couplers feature advanced packaging and design methods that drastically reduce insertion loss in the hundredths of a dB range, all within a slim-line, low-profile package.
Initial products will be focused on applications requiring higher power and amplifier efficiencies. The long-term target is to release families of Directional Couplers in all popular frequency bands and power levels.
