We are thrilled to welcome back Swemi, our returning Environmental, Health & Safety Intern from the University of Toronto! Her previous contributions have been invaluable, and we are excited to see the fresh ideas she will bring this year.

1. What school do you attend, and what is your major?

I attend the University of Toronto, and I’m entering my fourth and final year of my bachelor’s program, pursuing a double major in Environmental Science and Environmental Management.

2. Why did you choose TTM for your internship?

I chose TTM because they’re at the forefront of high-tech innovation. As someone passionate about sustainability, I was drawn to the opportunity to learn how cutting-edge technology can be applied to drive more sustainable industrial practices.

As a returning intern, I see even more clearly how experiences like this allow students like me to build the kind of foundation that prepares us to contribute meaningfully at companies like TTM.

3. What are you enjoying most about your internship journey at TTM Technologies so far?

What I’ve enjoyed most is being trusted with real responsibility. I’m not just observing, I’m contributing to meaningful projects that drive real results. A highlight for me was attending the Intern Workshop, where I visited another TTM facility, met mentors, and built connections with fellow interns who’ve become friends.

4. What project are you most proud of?

As a returning intern, I’m especially proud to have helped lay the groundwork for the EHS 4.0 project. Seeing it up and running was incredibly rewarding. It’s exciting to witness the evolution of a project you helped start.

I’m also proud of my research on copper recycling technologies. The project has been both challenging and fulfilling, allowing me to combine scientific research with real-world sustainability goals. Working on solutions that optimize resource efficiency while supporting a circular manufacturing process has been incredibly meaningful, especially knowing the potential environmental impact this work could have.

Additionally, I worked on bringing in an auto dosing system, RuppTech, which, despite a lengthy delay in delivery, found a successful application in waste treatment processes!

5. Would you recommend the TTM Technologies internship program to fellow classmates? Why?

Absolutely. TTM’s internship program is hands-on, well-structured, and supported by mentors who genuinely want to see you grow. It’s a valuable experience that bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, but it also opens doors to future career opportunities within companies like TTM, something I hope to pursue myself.

6. Any interesting facts about you or any hobbies?

I’m a geography and history enthusiast with a passion for structured planning and lifelong learning. I find joy in uncovering the stories behind places, cultures, and systems, how they’ve evolved and continue to shape our world!

We are proud to have Swemi on our team and look forward to seeing her continued growth and success. Her journey at TTM is a testament to the enriching opportunities our internship program provides, and we are excited to support her as she progresses in her career.
